Blur’s Damon Albarn Invites Noel Gallagher To Collaborate, Publicly Ends Feud

With hardcore digs laced into just about every hip-hop song on the radio, it’s hard to remember a time when Britpoppers like Blur and Oasis engaged in snarky battles of wit and snide comments via the press. A decade or so later, those sorts of fights don’t really exist, or rather, don’t really matter.

Damon Albarn, best known for his work with Blur and Gorillaz, has extended a pacifistic hand to ex-Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher.

has said he’d like to collaborate with Gallagher who just picked up the Godlike Genius Award from NME and demonstrated that genius at Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival.

In an interview, Albarn said that he’d love to work with Gallagher.

“Well, why not?” Albarn said. “He should come on the Africa Express train [an Albarn-formed music collective] in September. That’d be a nice chance to collaborate…I never held anything against him, even right in the middle of it. I just kind of admired them[Oasis]  in a way; that they were better at handling it all than me. They didn’t seem to get too affected by the bulls*it.”

The original fued, one Gallagher maintains was concived by NME and some of the Blur posse, was that Gallagher said that he wished Albarn and Alex James would “catch AIDS and die.” During the 1996 BRIT Awards, Oasis sang a version of Blur’s “Parklife” when they recieved their “Best British Band” award changing the lyrics to “Sh*te-life.”

But apparently the two hugged it out at the Brit Awards in 2012, sixteen years after the “Parklife” lyric changing incident.
