Movie Beat 2/24/12 – Good Deeds, Gone, Act Of Valor, Wanderlust

Four new movies open this weekend including Good Deeds, Gone, Act of Valor, and Wanderlust.

Good Deeds:

Tyler Perry, why do you vex me so? Ugh! Watching the trailer for this made me long for him to put on a fat suit and a dress and a wig and say “hallelujah.” You see, here, there’s a guy named Wesley Deeds, and the movie’s called Good Deeds because he’s a very successful businessman, but you know what? He’s empty on the inside, man.

You’d think this was about someone doing good deeds, but NO! It’s about Wesley Deeds whose empty life gets filled when he meets a single mother who’s in the cleaning crew at his office building, and she’s well below him, man, and his status cause he’s rich and powerful! But there’s a connection there, man, and it opens him up and makes him a better man. I have an “eff Tyler Perry” policy, and nothing in this film is going to change that!

Gone:

Amanda Seyfried stars in this film about a woman (named Jill) whose sister is kidnapped, and Jill is convinced that the serial killer has returned, and she sets out to face him without any help from the cops, cause the cops won’t back her up. She’s gonna take this guy on. That’s a bad idea.

Act of Valor:

What is this? I’m confused. they keep telling me these are real Navy SEALS, but they’re acting like Navy SEALS? Are we out of actors? Or are we out of Navy SEALS? I’m confused. We couldn’t find any actors to play Navy SEALS? They happened to find a dozen Navy SEALS who happen to be “great actors” on their own? Is that what they’re saying to me? I’m confused, and I reject it outright.

Either get me actors, or make a documentary about Navy SEALS, but don’t mix me up! In a world of reality television, I barely know what’s real and what’s not real anymore! I’m confused by this and I just wanna take two aspirin and lay down!

Wanderlust:

Paul Rudd. Jennifer Aniston. This looks like a very funny film about a suddenly unemployed Manhattan couple who have to find who have to find a new living situation and they end up on a commune where free-love is the order of the day. Alan Alda is the leader of the commune, by the way.

Look, I’m scared, usually, by Jennifer Aniston. I love her. I think she’s a talented woman, but but she doesn’t make the best selections, however, this movie, every time I see clips, it makes me want to see it more! She seems really solid in this, and does everyone surrounding it! It really looks like they’re having a great time making this movie! I really think this might be a movie I can take my wife to that she wants to go see, that I also want to go see! The two of us could agree on something!
