Dave “The King of Mexico” Narrowly Escaped Death, And So Have Our Listeners!

sweepers ahead

This morning, Dave “The King of Mexico” told us about a recent near death experience he had while driving home from a Clippers game.

He was zoning out while driving about 80 miles per hour in the slow lane, and narrowly missed plowing into a street sweeper BY LESS THAN A CAR LENTGH!  Crazy stuff, huh? But apparently, near death experiences are pretty common, and our listeners had plenty of stories to contribute.

Listener Jamie told us about narrowly avoiding getting killed by a man while walking home from work.  She passed out as he held a knife to her, but luckily he got spooked and ran away.  After get hit while riding his motorcycle, Listener Mark was dead for four minutes before being revived, and he spent 11 days in a coma while doctors worked on him.  Listener Albert, a trash truck driver, had the street give way under him, sending his truck down a cliff with him inside.

We had some great responses on the Kevin & Bean Facebook page as well:

Jon Carpenter: I was driving to my friend’s house who lives in Topanga canyon. My drink spilled in my car while going around a turn, I leaned over to pick it up on a straight away. next thing I know, I DROVE OFF OLD TOPANGA CANYON and landed on top of a tree!!!

Jesse Eric Larriva: I fell asleep on the freeway while my truck was on cruise control at 85mph. Drove off the embankment into a ditch and flew a total of 600 ft. My trucked was completely done. Chp officer told me I was the first one to come out of that ditch alive.

Michelle Chipres: In 2005 I was taking a south bound metrolink train to get to class everyday. I tend to sit in the same spot everyday but that morning I sat a table to finish a paper that was due that afternoon. The train derailed in Glendale and the woman that sat in my normal seat was ejected from the train and died on impact. I was fortunate enough to get a few bumps and bruises and walk away from the accident. I don’t go with out a day thinking what would of happened if I would of sat in my normal seat that morning.
