All week long I’ll be blogging about our stay in Sydney for the Australian Open Of Surfing, which continues through this Sunday in Manly Beach.

Strykers Trip To Sydney For The Australian Open Of Surfing: Day 3 Taronga Zoo[Gallery] Stryker’s Visit To…After a long night of drinking, we all woke up the next morning and enjoyed some breakfast at the Manly Wine Bar, one of Manly Beach’s hippest bars/restaurant. After filling our stomachs with some delicious food, we got our stuff together and headed downstairs to catch a cab. Our agenda for the day: head to the famous Taronga Zoo for a special encounter with some of nature’s coolest animals, including platypuses, kangaroos, emus, KOALA BEARS and more.

We were lucky enough to get a backstage look at the platypus habitat, where we were able to pet and learn about this endangered animal. We were then taken to the educational center and taken into a private area where we encountered several different crazy animals. We were allowed to feed, pet and learn about animals like the emu, red kangaroo, echidna, quokka, and the black-headed python.

We attempted to handle some koalas, but they were being shy and wouldn’t come down to hang out with us. We still have “Brekkie with the Koalas” planned for Sunday, so we have another chance to give one a hug. You can also check out all the great photos of the animals around the park in our photo gallery.
