The fellas of ska band, Reel Big Fish, are back in the studio, This album will get us our Behind the Music episode. Now if one of us could hit rock bottom..
recording their next original full-length album!  The band hasn’t released an album of original songs since their 2007 release, Monkeys for Nothin’ and the Chimps for Free.  We can’t wait to hear new music from these guys, and they recently released a behind-the-scenes video of how the recording process is going and what to expect from the upcoming album.

Frontman/guitarist Aaron Barrett and drummer Ryland Steen gave fans a look inside their studio recording session of their upcoming, untitled album, which Barrett describes as, “The greatest album we’ve ever made as Reel Big Fish.”  Since their last original album release in 2007, the band has released a covers album, Fame, Fortune, and Fornication, as well as a best-of compilation, A Best of Us for the Rest of Us.  Now the band is ready to create their next great album, which Steen declares, ”This album will get us our Behind the Music episode. It will put us to that status. Now if one of us could hit rock bottom..” To which Barrett retorts, “I’m on my way.”

The guys also discussed how Reel Big Fish enjoys constantly touring and playing live shows.  Barrett says, “We tour. That’s what we do. We” Our music has this universal quality, that all kids, regardless of what language they speak, they just get it.
play 250 shows a year, and we’re so lucky that people all around the world want us to come to their town and will pay money to see us play. That’s incredible.” Seeing the audience singing lyrics, dancing to the music, and having a great experience is what makes their shows so fun!  Steen says, “Our music has this universal quality, that all kids, regardless of what language they speak, they just get it. Kids and adults instinctively know what to do when we’re playing, which is to go crazy and have fun!”

Reel Big Fish is also nominated in the Best World category at this year’s OC Music Awards.  Originally hailing from Huntington Beach, CA, the band is definitely feeling the hometown love.  “It really is quite an honor,” says Steen. “It’s good to know that people are still paying attention to us.”

Can’t wait to hear new music from the band in the upcoming year!
