Kevin Hates “The Artist”, And Plenty Of Our Listeners Do Too

Filed Under:

The Artist

One of the most talked about movies this Oscar season has to be The Artist. The silent film (about silent films) is up for 10 Oscars, including “Best Picture”, “Best Actor” (Jean Dujardin), “Best Supporting Actress” (Bérénice Bejo) and “Best Director” (Michel Hazanavicius).

But no matter what all of the critics say, Kevin hates the movie.  Has he seen it? Nope. Will he see it? Never.  Because it’s silent, in black and white, and has tap dancing.  To our surprise, we found out that plenty of listeners agree with him, and have their own reasons to hate The Artist without even watching it.

**

Listener Tyler weighed in, saying the movie was just “hipster mumbo jumbo” for people who like Radiohead and Little Miss Sunshine.

Listener Melissa hates the movie because the advertisements talk only about how “artistic” the movie is, and not about the plot of the movie.

We also had plenty of responses on the Kevin & Bean Facebook page:

Listener Sean: Just like a movie with subtitles, If I wanted to read I would get a book not go to a movie!

Listener  Ashley: I just thought it was silent & THAT was a bad enough- now you just added that it was in black & white, OH, hell- to the- NO!!!

Listener Alex: Only appeals to film students and people over 85, lost on everybody else.

Movies were only in black and white and silent because they did not have color or sound! Why would you have modern technology and make a movie without sound or color! They wouldn’t have made them if they had color or sound. When they started having sound they were called talkies….movies is an old term that stuck.

I don’t take things seriously from Kevin or Kroq listeners, because I mean it’s kroq what the hell do they know. I mean you guys are the definition of douchebags and hipsters. Including their listeners. Maybe you guys should stop being victims to Hollywood’s crappy 3D movies.

I would go as far to say that Kevin is what’s wrong with the US as a nation. He is unapologetically ignorant about; news; culture; politics; etc, and yet he is MASSIVELY opinionated about all! I’m from the UK (resident for 10 years now) so I’m still don’t entirely understand the inner-dumb-assery-workings of individuals like Kevin and all the other US morons who dismissed this film without even watching it! However, I do recognize someone who’s hiding behind the phrase “hipster” to dismiss anything that might intellectually challenge them. It’s so much easier to take the intellectual low-road and close yourself off to anything meaningful! You are a sad wanker, Kevin Dicksplash! You have a mind like a deep-fried-twinkie!

Well, I think we found what Kevin has to do next time the Lakers lose to the Clippers.

I am offended that I must agree with Kevin, about The Artist. I hate it sooo hard, like Ralph hates babies. Silent movies are like Ford Model T’s – great 90 years ago, but today I would rather drive the crappiest Chinese-made 3-wheel car than a Model T (and by 3-wheel, I mean the 4th wheel fell off). Police Academy 3 was a better movie than The Artist. When George Lucas writes better dialogue, you know you have problems. People who like silent movies probably also drive Priuses and hate America. This movie review, like Ralph’s, is offered without actually seeing the movie.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. However, in my opinion everybody that says they hate this movie without actually seeing it are idiots. I checked it out yesterday and it was actually pretty good. Plus there was barely any tap dancing. I’m not a hipster, a film student, or over 85. Its the type of film for somebody that actually enjoys still going for the movie theaters. Its the type of film for people that watch movies that nominated for Academy Awards.

I Googled I hate The Artist, just to see if anyone else felt as I do. I see a lot of movies and this was so boring and pointless I had to walk out about 30 minute prior to ending. I really don’t care how it ended just don’t make me watch it anymore!!!!!
