Johnny Ramone Autobiography To Be Released Spring 2012

Founding member of the Ramones. Legendary guitarist. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee. Punk rock pioneer. These are just a few of the many ways to describe the success of the late Johnny Ramone.

This Spring, fans will be able to hear his life story–in his own words.  Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone, will be released early April, and will include an in-depth and personal look into the life of the awesome musician.

“ Johnny's legacy to him was so important, even while he was sick. ... It was like he knew he was dying, and he wanted to do something.
” Johnny Ramone (born John Cummings), passed away in 2004, after a five-year battle with prostate cancer.  Upon the discovery of his illness, Johnny began writing his memoirs.  His wife Linda says, “Johnny’s legacy to him was so important, even while he was sick. … It was like he knew he was dying, and he wanted to do something.”

The 176-page book contains personal photos selected by Linda, as well as an introduction written by last-surviving original member of the Ramones, drummer Tommy Ramone, and an epilogue by dear friend, Lisa Marie Presley.

The autobiography will discuss Johnny’s childhood memories growing up in Queens, NY, as well as his memories of the Ramones successful career as a band.  Within this memoir, Johnny also discusses other personal stories, including his struggle with cancer, altercation with Sex Pistols‘ manager, Malcolm McLaren, and his notable love affair with his wife Linda, who originally dated bandmate Joey Ramone.  Linda explains, “It’s whatever people make out of it. I guess it was some sort of love triangle — Joey, Johnny and me. It happened, and of course he talks about it and he talks about how he feels about it. The three of us all probably have a different story, but this is Johnny’s story.”
