Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” Claims Top Spot, Fun.’s “We Are Young” Enters The KROQ Playlist

It’s clear by the overwhelming number of requests we’ve been getting for Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” (feat. Kimbra) that it deserves to be #1 this week – and that’s exactly where it is. Looks good again this week! Just one question……Why aren’t you playing “Monarch Of Roses”? Heck, you’re playing “Rain Dance Maggie” again as I type this!

An all time low KROQ. You have now started playing a song made popular by Glee. Good gawd! Horrible.

Everybody relax!! Skrillex won’t last long . KROQ is in a quandry. It’s been a slow start to 2012, so they are playing a lot of leftover 2011 tunes (and Skrillex-UGH!!). But, don’t fret!!! In 2012 we should be getting new music from the following true Alt-Rock artists (and I’m sure KROQ will give them airplay):
Offspring, Bravery, Rancid, AM Taxi, Bouncing Souls, Star Spangles, Green Day, NOFX, Hot Hot Heat, Pennywise, Vampire Weekend, Bad Religion (their final album), Goldfinger, Tegan and Sara, MXPX, Hot Water Music, The Switches, Paramore, Skybombers, Gaslight Anthem, The Cribs, The XX, Avett Brothers, Kings of Leon, The Hives, Nada Surf (This CD is out already and getting airplay on other Alt-Rock stations), Mumford & Sons, Killers, James, Yellowcard, The National, Phoenix, Spoon, Weezer, Interpol, Free Energy, Silversun Pickups, New Politics, Neon Trees, Hockey, Metric, Atomic Tom, The Hold Steady, Rogue Wave, The Whigs, Jimmy Eat World, Pearl Jam, Beck, Jet, Placebo, Glasvegas, Stellastarr, Sharks, Say Anything, Pilot Speed, Brand New, and Motion City Soundtrack.
Clearly, all these bands are more “Alt-Rock” than Skrillex. We just need to wait for these albums to be released
