OC Music Awards 2012: Button Willow Locomotive Don’t Horse Around With Lovely Lo-Fi Indie Folk

Both these horses knew from a young age, or innately rather, that they wanted to be involved in music.
“
While sitting backstage at Zoey's Cafe in Ventura after BWL had just played, I couldn't help but feel really lucky to become a part of a community of musicians, sharing things together.
”
Heflin said that “growing up I always remembered dancing to Meri Wilson’s ‘Telephone Man’ in my grandmothers basement. Somewhere along the line I realized that music was it for me; and a few years later I realized that song was fairly inappropriate for a five year old to listen to.
As many young girls do, Carson played dress up.
“
That is, a certain hand craftedness, nature, and travel. However, the name came out of passing through the town Buttonwillow, California and the fact that Alex really likes trains. Either way the words together felt like a good fit.
”
“I know that ever since I was about 8 years old, I wanted to be a singer,” explained Carson. “As silly as it sounds, we would have career days in elementary school where you would dress up in the attire of a person in some sort of future career….I continued to dress up as a singer, unplugged microphone in hand.”
“In high school, when I joined a band filled with my friends, I knew I was in the right place the moment I stepped on stage with them,” continued Carson. “More recently, while sitting backstage at Zoey’s Cafe in Ventura after BWL had just played, I couldn’t help but feel really lucky to become a part of a community of musicians, sharing things together.”
Intently aware of their craft, the substance of nature, and the art of travel (they are both horses, remember), Button Willow Locomotive said that their name comes from “the three words” which “sort of describe things that we’re drawn to.”
“That is, a certain hand craftedness, nature, and travel,” the band concluded. “However, the name came out of passing through the town Buttonwillow, California and the fact that Alex really likes trains. Either way the words together felt like a good fit.”
