After making one of the best albums of 2011 with the Foo FightersDave Grohl appears to be at work on a new secret project. Known for his variety in music collaborations, Grohl is now joining forces with members of one of the biggest rock groups of the 80′s, Ratt.

Last week Ratt vocalist Stephen Pearcy announced the news of a new song via twitter, along with the picture above of himself, Grohl, and guitarist Warren De Martini.

He later added: “Thing is it’s a way cool thing of Dave. We’re just privileged to b a part of that. Next Ratt!”

The new track isn’t the first time Grohl has teamed up with 80′s metal legends. For his 2004 Probot album (ie: his homage to heavy metal), Grohl collaborated with artists Snake (from Voivod), Eric Wagner (from Trouble), Cronos (from Venom), and Wino. Could this mean fans get another Probot album??? Maybe.

But this is also the second ‘secret’ project that Dave has been linked to recently. The first came with the news that he would be directing a documentary about Sound City Studios — where Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ and several other classic albums where recorded. So does the new Grohl/Ratt track have something to do with the doc? Possibly. Only time will tell…
