It’s a sad day for Los Angeles music fans and citizens alike. Laslush is reporting that the Music Box has unexpectedly closed its doors indefinitely. A sign posted on the door reads “closed for inventory” while workers inside are disassembling the sound system.

Recent shows include [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Morrissey [/lastfm]and[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Angels & Airwaves[/lastfm]. And doesn’t it seem like yesterday that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Social Distortion[/lastfm] and KROQ World Premiered Social’s D then new video, “Machine Gun Blues?”
Laslush’s sources claim that disputes between the owners and the landlord led to the sudden closure and eviction. Hopefully, new owners can be found and the Music Box will rise again sooner rather than later.
We’ll keep you posted on details as we hear them. In the meantime, reminisce with us to an April evening when Social Distortion and KROQ took over the landmark Hollywood venue.
