It’s a busy time for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Currently, they are in the midst of a massive year-long tour, (including the recently announced Staples Center show February 26), and bassist Flea called in to the Kevin & Bean Show from Switzerland this morning to catch up.
The guys also chatted about the band being chosen for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and since he is a huge Lakers fan, Flea’s thoughts on some basketball news.
Flea is all fired up about NBA Commissioner David Stern putting a stop to the Lakers’ trade for Chris Paul. In fact, he explained that he now refuses to use NBA.com for getting basketball news, and opts for ESPN or LA Times instead. He also gave his thoughts on Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol’s exits from the team, and owner Jerry Buss’s potential successors.

With The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Flea joked that it brings himself closer to basketball greats Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Magic Johnson.
The band has won countless numbers of awards over the years, but Flea believes this is the ultimate. In addition, he believes this is the best possible time for the band to achieve the honor, because he feels they are at their peak as a band.
What makes it even better is that Flea gets to be inducted with childhood friend Slash, as Guns N Roses will also be honored.
