Quite a few movies are opening up this week, and some seem really good! This week we’ve got We Need To Talk About Kevin, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, New Year’s Eve, The Sitter, and Young Adult.

We Need To Talk About Kevin:

This opens in limited release this weekend. Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly play t he parents of a damaged boy, named Kevin, who goes on a high school killing spree. The parents need to deal with the repercussions and the guilt they feel about their son being such a damaged individual, and such a hateful, horrible person. Kevin = bad, is all that I’m saying.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy:

Gary Oldman takes on the role of legendary spy, George Smiley, made famous, of course, by Alec Guinness in the original. This looks great! Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Colin Firth – great cast! John Le Carré, the author, wrote a series of books about this spy, George Smiley, which was made into a series of movies, and now Gary Oldman has taken over the role. He’s gotta find the Soviet mole in MI6. The Cold War is the backdrop for this spy thriller. It’s also in limited release this weekend.

New Year’s Eve:

This is Lisa’s kind of movie. This is a star-studded movie, much like Valentine’s Day was (also directed by Gary Marshall), also filled with stars, and also seemingly unwatchable. The lives of several couples intersect in New York City over the course of New Year’s Eve. Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry – it’s quite the amazing cast. I don’t know how Gary Marshall gets these casts, but it’s huge super superstars, doing this for like no money!

The Sitter:

Jonah Hill plays a bad babysitter. That’s all you really need to know. This looks awesome. Jonah Hill is great, and I love when little kids are abused. I mean… I love when kids are put in difficult situations and rise above those situations to higher heights of success.

Young Adult:

MY movie for the weekend stars Charlize Theron! [*DING*DING*DING*DING*DING*] Jason Reitman is the director, and what a great, great director he has been! He’s had pretty much a perfect track record with his films. Patton Oswalt is in this as well. This movie looks so good! I can’t wait!

Charlize plays a total bitch. Jason Reitman kept asking her if she could be a little more c-wordy, and Charlize said “bring it!”By all accounts, she achieves greatness in the c-word department! I’m looking forward to seeing Young Adult this weekend!
