How are the Beastie Boys considered “rock and roll”? I thought they were rappers. (?)

The Boys actually started as a hard garage-style rock band and even left some rock elements in Licensed to Ill in songs like Fight For Your Right and No Sleep Til Brooklyn. Even later songs like Sabotage are essentially rock songs. But the RnRHOF isn’t the strictest when it comes to the genre anyways…they might as well let in the best of other genres since the others don’t have anything. Can you ever imagine a rap or hip-hop hall of fame?
