The Detroit Lions traditionally play one of the big Thanksgiving NFL games every year, and in this year’s home game against the Green Bay Packers, they chose Nickelback as their halftime performer.
A large number of people are upset, because as we all know, Nickelback blows. And despite their years of mediocrity, still manage to sell records. One great American, Dennis Guttman, will not let this stand, and has taken to his computer to protest this horrible entertainment choice.
Dennis Guttman’s petition on Change.org already has over 46,000 votes and growing. Why is this petition important? David writes:
“This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime.”
Here are some of the best comments from petition supporters:
Eric Ransom: Haven’t the good people of Detroit been through enough?
Dave Mantz: Why am I signing? It’s for the good of the human race
Colin Robins: I probably won’t even watch the game, but if I can help stop one Nickelback gig, I’ll know I have done good work.
Taylor Humphey: I imagine hell is nothing more than an endless Nickelback concert. That fear is what keeps me from doing bad things.
Need a reminder of who Nickelback is?
