While the world has critically analyzed and celebrated other seminal 1991 albums celebrating their 20th anniversaries in the past few months, U2′s Achtung Baby turning 20 has largely gone unnoticed. Bono and the boys went through an arduous reinvention process during the album’s recording in Germany, but came away with epic rock staples such as “One,” “Mysterious Ways,” “Even Better Than The Real Thing” and “The Fly.”

While Nirvana and Pearl Jam, who released Nevermind and Ten in 1991 have been receiving more attention stateside this year, across the pond, music magazine Q has released a stalwart Achtung Baby covers album featuring some serious heavy hitters: Jack White, Nine Inch Nails and The Killers contributed, to name a few.

U2 were awarded “Greatest Act of the Last 25 Years” at the Q Awards, so the magazine’s release of this cover album comes at an opportune time. While Q issue #305 (that comes with the covers album) doesn’t deliver stateside, you can buy the magazine/CD here, and listen to some of the choice cuts on the next page:

Sign me up for a subscription, this is awesome
Love U2 and Garbage and NIN and Jack White and almost everyone on this record.
Achtung Baby was the best album of 1991… not as landscape-changing as Nevermind, but more fun to listen to from start to finish.
