2011 is nearing a close, and besides candy, turkey, and presents, it also means KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas is just around the corner. Think you can guess who’s going to be on the bill this year? OC Weekly has already made their prediction. Did they get it right? Take a look at their list and tell us what you think.

From OC Weekly:

In November of last year, we took a shot at piecing together the lineup for KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas before it was announced, and we weren’t far wrong. We’re going to attempt the same feat this year.

It’s traditionally held at the Gibson Amphitheater, and the venue’s concert calendar is empty on Dec. 10 and 11, so we’re guessing those are the dates KROQ is going for. This makes sense when you take into account the announcement of Las Vegas Radio Station 107.5 Holiday Havoc shows on Dec. 7 and 8 that will feature Jane’s Addiction, Rise Against, The Joy Formidable, A Day to Remember, and The Naked and Famous. We’re willing to bet at least half those bands will also be on KROQ’s bill.

So along with the bands listed above, here are some speculations:

1. Coldplay: They need to promote their new album, Mylo Xyloto.

2. Soundgarden/Chris Cornell: Cornell will be in town, as he’s playing the Orpheum on Dec. 16.

3. Linkin ParkNo Doubt, Bad Religion: Perennial KROQ favorites.

4. The National: Playing in San Francisco on Dec. 3.

5. Bush/Foster the People/Sublime With Rome/Cage the Elephant: All of them are playing a Christmas show in Tampa on Dec. 3, and bands tend to follow a radio-show Christmas circuit.

6. Guns N’ Roses: A long shot, but they are touring the States and haven’t announced any California shows.

Any other rumors out there?

KROQ promoted 2 of the Honda Civic Tour shows and Blink headlined that.

I love tinkering with my own predictions (started predicting Coachella 2012 right when Coachella 2011 ended) so here goes:

Two Door Cinema Club – Playing a few holiday radio shows earlier that week like Deck the Hall Ball and others, so they’ll conveniently be on the west coast.

Florence and the Machine – Playing a holiday show in Kansas, will have a new album out by then, and was quite a hit at last year’s Almost Acoustic Christmas.

Young the Giant – Appearing at similar shows the week before and I have a feeling they’ll want to show their home town some love.

Grouplove – Same as above. LA natives, booked for holiday shows, blowing up quickly.

The Black Keys – Not as much evidence here but they have a new album in early December and KROQ loves them. Were also great at last year’s show.

Everyone from Holiday Havoc will show up too.

Rise Against will headline one of the nights. The other headliner is trickier and will either be The Black Keys, or if they’re not big enough, then a wild card (maybe Incubus?)

my guess is that BUSH & BLINK182 will be the headliners. i also think we’ll see FOSTER THE PEOPLE, RISE AGAINST, SUBLIME W/ ROME, & CAGE THE ELEPHANT.

We heard a rumor that you were going to have Kasabian headline night two. I know it’s a bit of a risk, but knowing that they are one of the worlds biggest band and that you receive requests to play them daily we feel what better way to re-introduce them to America then with KROQ. After all, it was KROQ who helped such great UK bands as Oasis, Coldplay and Muse break big in America.

Even if GnR was booked (which I highly doubt they would be), I’d put my money on them either not showing or not playing an entire set.

Situation!
Id go for The National, Coldplay, Cage The Elephant
Id watch Foster the People. Linkin Park. No Doubt
Im not a big fan of Axl’s attitude lately, but id watch them for their old music.

these tickets are gonna be hard to get (like all other axc’s)

but then again I AM going to Coachella (100%)

and I have reason to believe Coldplay is going to headline one of the days. (The national, Cage and Foster all played Coachella this year but Id go to see The National again)

should I assume these bands are playing Coachella?

I pray to god that Guns And Roses isn’t on the bill

Gotta say blink’s gonna headline one night. On their facebook page they hinted they r gonna play another show this year. My bet it has something to do with kroq. Hence, almost acoustic christmas. If this is true i am for sure getting tickets. would love to see incubus and rise against on the bill 2.

Night 1:
Jane’s Addiction
Rise Against
Bush
Soundgarden
Cage the Elephant
Foster the People
Switchfoot
A Day to Remember
The Naked and Famous
The Joy Formidable

Night 2:
Blink-182
Incubus
Sublime w/ Rome
Mumford and Sons
The Black Keys
Awolnation
Grouplove
Florence and the Machine

Chili peppers are impossible as they are in Europe on the 10th and 11th. Both coldplay and the foos are unlikely cuz they are in different continents on surrounding dates.

Rise Against can only play Sunday if its the 10th and 11th……..they are playing in Fresno on the 10th.

October 31, 2011 1:53 pm

Well if it’s held December 10th and 11th I know for sure RA and ADTR won’t be there for night 1 and for the past few years night one has been the heavier line-up; I’m seeing them in Fresno that night. Wait until 91x in san Diego announces their wrex the halls line-up. Last year it was identical to night 1 minus the three bands that jumped on last minute.

blink-182 is already headlining night 2 of Wrex the Halls on the 11th.

I think that Blink-182 will be a headliner for one of the nights. Also maybe Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers because they both came out with new albums. Neon Trees and Foster the People probably will be. My other guesses are Bush, Social D, 311, The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, and Cage The Elephant.
