Korn Meets Dubstep In New Album ‘The Path of Totality’
Korn with Skrillex
Just months after releasing Korn III: Remember Who You Are, Korn began working on new material that promised to be the first of its kind. As we told you before, the band known for being hard rock game changers will be showcasing a whole new sound in their upcoming album The Path Of Totality.
Out December 6th, the record will be combining electronic sounds, dubstep, and metal. Yup, you read that right. Up next hear some of Korn’s new sound and tell us what you think.
The Path Of Totality will be Korn’s 10th studio album and promises to be nothing you’d expect to hear from them. The album will feature 11 new songs, all recorded with famed dubstep producers like Skrillex, Nosia, Excision, Kill The Noise, 12th Planet, and Datsik. When asked about the new creative direction bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu told NME that it was front man, Jonathan Davis’ idea. “Jonathan loved it [dubstep] and he just got us into it. We feel it’s important to stay current and keep on top of what’s going on.”
“The title The Path Of Totality refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time. That’s how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I’m not sure it could ever happen again.” – Jonathan Davis
‘Get Up!’, the first single off the upcoming album, was showcased at last years Coachella in a surprise performance that received a great reaction. After that, everything just fell into place. James “Munky” Shaffer explains, ”‘Get Up!’ started as a bit of an experiment, but we had such an amazing response from our fans and had such a great time collaborating that a full album of tracks came together in a couple of months. We couldn’t wait to get to the studio every day to finish the next song.”
Get Up!
The album will be out in two configurations: as a standard 11-song CD and a special edition CD that will include bonus tracks as well as a DVD of The Encounter, a full-length video concert previously seen last year on TV and online in an abbreviated form.
As for now check out Korn on tour, where they will be playing key ballrooms and feature dubstep DJ’s Datsik and Downlink, as well as young upstart Dutch Dub-rockers Dope D.O.D. And for the curious, watch new song ‘Tension’ that debuted during a guest DJ stint in Detroit by Davis.

Music is awesome and his vocals don’t ruin it like they normally do.
