[Watch] Foo Fighters, MGMT Cover Pink Floyd On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

It has been quite the week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. As we reported earlier, a heavy-hitting lineup of bands has been covering Pink Floyd songs throughout the week. The legendary British psych-rockers are remastering and reissuing all of their material titled Why Pink Floyd…? — a huge undertaking considering their catalog — over the course of the next year.
Along with insightful interviews with Roger Waters and Floyd drummer Nick Mason, the cover songs by MGMT (dressed as fish stick fisherman above) and Foo Fighters have been far-and-away the best of the bunch so far.

MGMT performed a perfect rendition (some great guitar work here) of Syd Barret-era Floyd, “Lucifer Sam”. Leave it to these psychedelic, spazzed-out rockers to “play” and distressed tape machine and dress up like they just came from Maine. (Note: I’m assuming all people from Maine dress like this.)
At least they didn’t get shoes thrown at them this time.

The Foo Fighters took a back seat to the great Roger Waters during their performance of “In The Flesh” of The Wall. Dave Grohl and Co. let Waters take the lead (double the bass!) while they jammed HARD for a solid four minutes (there’s Grohl mid-headbang above).

Pearl Jam closes out the week tonight. Rumor has it the Seattle-ites will play the epic slow-burning “Mother” from The Wall.
