New movies opening this weekend include Sarah Palin: You Betcha, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Dream House, What’s Your Number?, and 50/50. Which ones will you see?
Sarah Palin: You Betcha:
This is by legendary documentary maker, Nick Broomfield. He has traveled to Alaska in order to track the origins of Sarah Palin’s political career. By all accounts, it is informative and entertaining.
Tucker & Dale vs Evil:
Great cast. Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk star in this. Tucker and Dale are two hicks that are on vacation in their mountain cabin, when a bunch of preppy college kids who are vacationing in the woods come across them, and believe that these guys are redneck hillbilly killers.
It turns out to just be a series of misunderstandings, but one by one the college kids start dying, with no responsibility of Tucker and Dale. You can’t help it, but you’ve gotta think it’s them because they’re rednecks and they’re in a cabin in the woods.
Jim Sheridan, legendary Irish director, brings together an amazing cast of Daniel Craig, Rachel Wiesz, Naomi Watts. It’s the story of a family who moves in to a quaint New England town, and in the home that they purchase, it turns out that a mother and her children were murdered there.
Everyone thinks the husband was the killer, but Daniel Craig becomes obsessed with the story and starts to dig a little deeper and discovers an even more disturbing story behind the murders. By all accounts this is a terrifying psychological thriller with a great, great cast.
What’s Your Number:
This is a romantic comedy with Anna Faris and Chris Evans, also with Zachary Quinto. Good cast. Anna Faris plays a woman who reads in a magazine that a woman who has had more than 20 sexual partners in their lifetime will have a harder time finding a husband than those with under 20.
She realizes that she’s at 20 and has to go back and sift through those guys cause she believes that somewhere in there is her husband. She’s going back and reconnecting with all her old boyfriends to find out what’s going on with those guys. While she’s reconnecting with her old romances, she runs into Chris Evans, and as you can tell from the trailers, those two probably hook up.
I love Anna Faris. I think she’s really talented and she’s one of those people who can elevate a movie with her charm.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star in this. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a guy diagnosed with spinal cancer, and he’s gotta work with his best friend Kyle, played by Seth Rogen, to get through it, and they do so with humor and with friendship. It’s a funny film that also has a big, big heart. This really looks great.
