[World Premiere] Listen To New Found Glory’s “Dumped” From Upcoming Album “Radiosurgery”

[pullquote quote=”This song is sort of like kicking yourself in the a**. Like, ‘C’mon. Why didn’t I realize that back then?'” credit=”Chad Gilbert about ‘Dumped.'”]Whether it’s [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]New Found Glory[/lastfm]’s lead single “Radiosurgery” from their upcoming album of the same name or the two songs, “Anthem For The Unwanted” and “I’m Not The One,” that we world premiered these  last two days, fans are “stoked” by New Found Glory’s back-to-pop-punk-basics sound.

“Dumped” is no exception. Guitarist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Chad Gilbert[/lastfm] said in an exclusive interview with KROQ that the tune “is one of the most straight-forward songs of the album” and is essentially about the inevitable hindsight that comes at the end of a romantic relationship.

Sometimes, though, the relationship is worth the risk–just like the awesome “risk” New Found Glory took filming their video for their new single “Radiosurgery” at the very haunted Linda Vista Community Hospital in Boyle Heights. Gilbert’s friend, Luis, who happened to be in the car during our interview said he “heard a child scream” and felt like “someone was watching him.”

Watch the video for “Radiosurgery” in this spooky local locale and be one of the first to hear the newest single “Dumped!”

new found glory 4 [World Premiere] Listen To New Found Glorys Dumped From Upcoming Album Radiosurgery

[pullquote quote=”I had some crazy sh*t go down in the boiler room.” credit=”Luis”]”Radiosurgery” is not only a fun, freewheeling video that has been described as an homage to the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ramones[/lastfm]’ “I Wanna Be Sedated,” but the video was filmed at the historically haunted Linda Vista Community Hospital where scary movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, End of Days, and Day of the Dead 2: Contagium were filmed. Apparently a breeding ground for ghosts, the hospital has also been on many metaphysical television shows.

When I asked Gilbert if he, or anyone he knew, had seen ghosts at the hospital, he said that his friend Luis, who was in the car, had definitely had a “paranormal” experience. Luis elaborated:

“I had some crazy sh*t go down in the boiler room. I took three trips. One with five friends. Another trip with three friends. And then I went down solo with this cute girl.

“You know, that’s where they filmed ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’…there’s like crazy stuff down there. We were down there and I swear I heard a child screaming up one of these weird stairs that dead ends to nothing.”

“It sounded like a child screaming and I felt like someone was walking around me. Then I got super creeped out. I walked down this hallway and I literally felt like there was someone watching me the entire time. It was so creepy and weird. I had to get out of there so I just left.”

[pullquote quote=”I think, lyrically, ‘Dumped’ is one of the most straight-forward songs of the album. ” credit=”Chad Gilbert”]The lyrics for “Radiosurgery” are kind of fitting for Luis’ boiler room experience: “I’m hearing voices that are not there/When no one calls I could be anywhere.”

However, “Dumped” is less about hearing the voices of people passed and more about hearing a voice that admonishes you for your past. Gilbert explains:

“I think, lyrically, ‘Dumped’ is one of the most straight-forward songs of the album. It’s kind of saying that you realize after everything went down that you’re better off without the person, but you don’t like it because you went through so much crap and the relationship is now over.”

“After all you went through; after seeing the person’s true colors; after them breaking your heart, you realize, ‘Damn. You didn’t even need this person anyways.'”

“If you knew that from the beginning; if you were stronger in the beginning, you wouldn’t have been with her. You wouldn’t have become so attached.”

“This song is sort of like kicking yourself in the a**. Like, ‘C’mon. Why didn’t I realize that back then?'”
