R.E.M. have announced that they have officially broken up after an impressive 31 years of making music together.
The band said in a statement on their website today, “As lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished.”
In the last 31 years, R.E.M. have released 15 albums. Their final album Collapse Into Now was released in March of this year. Rolling Stone reports the band spent some time recording in a recording studio in their hometown of Athens, Georgia. It is unclear whether those recordings will be released in the future.

oh how sad
i have to cry all day
they had been a great band in the 90s and the early 00s
they had so many hits
in europe they became famous with OUT OF TIME
what a shame
its a shame, that KROQ ignored them in the last years
no song of rem had been played by kroq
but why ??
kroq made rem great and successful and famous
but then in the 00s they ignored them
