Cage the Elephant Discuss How KROQ’s Weenie Roast Helped Them Snag Supporting Slot On Foo Fighters’ Tour

Cage the Elephant revealed that this year’s KROQ Weenie Roast helped them snag a supporting slot on the Foo Fighters’ upcoming US tour, proving, yet again, how well hot dogs, beer and great music go together.

Apparently, it all started a few months back when both bands were on the bill at Radio One’s Big Weekend festival. Cage the Elephant finished their performance and were looking forward to checking out the Foos’ set, but their tour manager made them leave so they could make it to their next stop. Instead of seeing the Foo Fighters performance, the boys in Cage made the best of the opportunity and decided to pen the Foos this letter: “Dear Foo Fighters, we’re huge fans of your band. Sadly, we can’t see your set because our evil tour manager is making us leave. If we don’t do everything he says, he burns us with lit cigarettes. We hope you understand.”

Fast forward a few weeks and the two bands once again found themselves in the same location…at KROQ’s Weenie Roast. This time the “evil” tour manager didn’t intervene, and according to Matt Shultz, “I talked to Dave and he was just a super great guy and he said we should do some shows together and, so, we’re doing some shows with the Foos…”

Right on Matt! You’re a rockstar now man. Rockstar’s get the hooks. I need to be a rockstar… Great post Amy! I love the love Cage The Elephant is getting by everybody. Its way cool. These guys are gonna have a sick future record! Just the light talk about their going back and writing songs after their ending tour next year has me interested in seeing if CTE has even more to say in their songs. It’s all about “In One Ear”, “Aberdeen”, “Back Against the Wall”, “Around My Head” and ofcourse, “Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked”. They got tracks! I just know this third album is gonna blow up. Cage The Elephant’s style is what I wanna see in mainstream media today for the youth of today. “It’d be alot cooler if you did.” -Wooderson. KROQ! Hook me up with a pair of Foo Fighters tickets to The Forum so I can root and rock for CTE during their set! You know my experiences are always interesting. Either way, nice shining the spot light on Cage The Elephant. They really are a cool band. They’re KROQ for sures. “I’ll keep my eyes fixed on the sun.”
