Lisa May Needs To Name Her New Dog. Help Us Overcome Bean’s Idea
We ALL love dogs on the Kevin and Bean show. Most of us have them. Bean has 6. All of whom are trying desperately to run away from him.
Lisa just got a new dog, and let’s face it, this dog looks like an alien. A cute alien, but still. Lisa made the mistake of telling us she didn’t have a name yet, and Bean piped up IMMEDIATELY, without thinking, and said,”I-I-I have ALWAYS wanted to name my dog “Orangey.” Which Lisa thought about! And then I realized my help was desperately needed.
“Orangey?” “Yes,” Bean said. “That-that-that was the cat’s real name in the 1961 classic movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” First of all, on this planet, how many people know the cat’s real name that was in a 1961 movie? Second of all, you know what they called the cat in the movie? I looked it up. Orangey? Nope. They called it “poor slob without a name.” They picked “poor slob without a name” over “Orangey.” You know why? Orangey is a stupid ass name for an animal.
Any other suggestions? I know it’s gonna pretty hard to top Bean’s idea, but my suggestion of “bug-eyes-antenna-ears” beats Orangey.

I’ve got three wonderful dogs, one straight from being homeless right in front of my house, but they were all rescues. It’s very a very rewarding thing to do. They’re all over 90 pounds and they love Chihuahuas. So, I’m sure they would have a perfect name for it.

Lisa has to name her own dog but it’s certainly fun to try and help. It does look a little like a Martian so in keeping with the reference some old movie or show theme…Uncle Martin (My Favorite Martian). You can call him Martin or Marty for short or even use the surname: O’Hara. That might be a mouthful when you’re calling him, though. So..Martin.

Well, if the dog’s a girl, and if you want to keep both the movie theme and the “bug-eyes-antenna-ears” in mind you could always do Leelu. (It’s from The Fifth Element.) If the dog’s a boy and you want to stick to the themes, Stitch might be kind of cute. Or there are always the generic names like Tito, Tiny, Lola, Luna, etc.

If the puppy is a male, Julius — after the retro, delicious Orange Julius drink. And if the baby is a female, may I suggest names of classic actresses. Since the puppy is a Chiuhuahua how about a Latin name like Rita or Myrna. Lucy is rather obvious, but still a cute for a pooch. Lastly, how about Kate — after Katherine Hepburn.
