Our friends in Chicago have a prime spot in Grant Park and are covering Lollapalooza all weekend long–check back early and often for show reviews, tons of photos, backstage interviews, and exclusive live sessions.
Between being awesome in The Clash and being awesome with Gorillaz, Mick Jones decided to be awesome with Big Audio Dynamite. BAD was formed in 1984, and quickly became one of the bastions of post-punk rock, the original BAD lasted for 6 years before Jones totally scrapped it and rebounded with brand new members, dubbing the new group Bad Audio Dynamite II. They sludged along for 3 years before Jones decided enough was enough, and dissolved the band for good.
Then seemingly out of nowhere, the band has reunited, original lineup and all. Mick Jones and Don Letts stopped by to talk with us backstage at Lollapalooza.
The reformation was officially confirmed in January 2011 with the announcement of a UK tour. The 9-date tour was a commercial and critical success, and the group went on to play sets at Coachella and Glastonbury Festival. Now they venture to Chicago, bringing an old-school post-punk style that’s going to remind these kids what alternative truly means.
