[Video] Rage Against The Machine’s First Public Appearance, Cal State Northridge 1991
Rage Against the Machine - Oct. 23, 1991, Cal State Northridge
Following a stellar performance at LA Rising last weekend, Rage Against the Machine has been the talk around town. This is nothing new.
I’m often curious to see how bands like this have evolved over the years, and would have loved the opportunity to see one of their earliest concerts.
The internet never fails me! Someone blew the dust off an old VHS video cassette, digitized it and uploaded it to YouTube. God bless them! It’s a full-length video of what’s said to be Rage Against the Machine’s first public performance back in October 1991 at Cal State Northridge.
Where you there? Do you know someone who was there? We’re looking for more details on this performance.

It’s amazing how good the songs they wrote around the same time the band just formed. You can also see the crowded growing as the show went on.

Little did the stupid people walking by have any idea that they would be paying $150 to stand 500 feet away from them at a concert 20 years later.
