Yeah, Comic Con is a huge convention, but 50% of the action lies in the numerous parties that were taking place just outside the convention center in the Gaslamp District. It seemed like there was always somewhere that you could turn to find yourself a free beer, surrounded by hot women or in the presence of some actor or celebrity.

We tried our best to scope out as many parties as we could, but it’s tough when you’re rolling with such a small crew. Whether it was some snazzy party hosted by Maxim or a haven you could divert back to in order to enjoy a few drinks, options were always available.

How did these parties fare up against each other? Take a look at my top 10 list of Comic Con parties and see which grade they got on their “report card.”

#10 – ALTITUDE LOUNGE

Clearly we loved this place - my middle finger says so

POSITIVES:

  • When all other options failed, we were able to get a group of 10 of us in
  • Good music
  • Good view of Petco Park and the rest of downtown

NEGATIVES:

  • Early last call (1am)
  • We were ushered out rather fast when they began shutting down, even though the waitress had just brought us another round of drinks
  • Nothing special seemed to be taking place for Comic Con

FINAL GRADE: C-

It’s bad enough that you can’t find anywhere (besides bars) in downtown SD that sells booze past midnight, but having last call at 1 instead of 1:30? I needed the extra 30 to get to my pinnacle. Damn you Altitude Lounge! You even made Dave The King of Mexico pissed!

You missed the Digital LA party there on Saturday Night.
