[Video] Viva Brother Bring Brash Britpop & Barbecue To The KROQ Backyard

There is always a horrible joke among music industry veterans that if you stick a British band (used to the rain and chill) out in the scorching California sun to play, they will literally melt.
In our normally deserted KROQ backyard turned barbecue/acoustic performance space, Viva Brother brought their brash
[Gallery] Viva Brother Performs Live In…Britpop revivalist sound, reminiscent of hit bands in the NME-era like Oasis, Blur, and Manic Street Preachers, and completely disproved the theory that Brits can’t bring it as hard on hot American soil.
With a seemingly self-aware sarcastic jab at their obvious influences, Viva Brother labels themselves as Gritpop–an absolute ace label considering Viva Brother’s fusion of traditional Britpop with a grungy, modern edge. Viva Brother did play a fantastic acoustic version of the infectiously catchy song everyone was holding out for, “Darling Buds Of May,” but they also played some of their other great Britpop samplings like “David,” “Still Here,” and “Fly By Nights.”
With their typical swagger, Viva Brother brought unbridled, albeit acoustic attitude and sonic heat to KROQ’s tiny grass paradise.
