Today’s Why Does Kevin Hate? Diet Ginger Ale

Kevin has an unnatural “cartoon hate” for a lot of things, and we often can’t figure out exactly why. After Lisa May‘s commercial for Soda Stream, a new hatred emerged. Obviously, the Kevin & Bean show had to discuss!
Our very own Lisa May has been endorsing Soda Stream for a while now, and is so convincing that even I got one for Christmas. We were all a bit confused, however, when her selling point in yesterday’s commercial was the fact that they even carried a diet ginger ale flavor.
I understand that an energy drink, or a root beer, or an orange soda could be a selling point, but diet ginger ale? What I don’t understand though is Kevin’s hatred toward said soda.
Kevin went off about how ginger ale, and worse, DIET ginger ale, should not be considered a soda. It’s just a mixer! It’s not a standalone beverage! It’s only purpose is to mix it with your alcohol! If you put it in your alcohol, it’s acceptable. It belongs in the same category as club soda and tonic water – mixer, not beverage!
Ralph added to the debate by stating that ginger ale’s sole purpose is to create or resolve vomiting situations.
Yep, so that happened. What do you think: beverage or mixer?

Stop the hating, Kevin. When a woman is suffering the distress of morning sickness, sometimes GINGER ALE-either diet or regular-is the only thing the poor lady can keep down!

I agree; I only use it as a mixer. But it is a soda, as it has flavor + carbonated water. A sucky one, maybe, but a soda all the same. I feel the same way about 7-Up — I never drink it alone, but add some Seagrams and THERE IS A DRINK.

Ginger Ale is a soda! It’s syrupee and flavorful like other sodas. Club soda and tonic water are just that… WATER!
Again, Kevin’s cartoon hate defies reason! He’s special.
