This Week In Rage With Adam Carolla 7/19/11: Can’t We Just Be Sincere For Once?

It’s a new week, which means a new ” This Week In Rage” from our friend Adam Carolla. Adam has a lot of things that irritate him, and he calls in once a week to vent on the top three things that are rubbing him the wrong way.
Miss today’s “This Week In Rage”? Adam set his sights on something called the “complisult” (a compliment that ends in an insult), why Air Canada is better than airlines in the US, and his recent experience with Customs in Canada.
Adam’s thoughts:
3. Complisults: “The Car Show”, Adam’s new TV show, debuted on the Speed Channel last week. His mother watched it, then called to tell him that his stepfather enjoyed it, but it wasn’t for her. Adam wonders why every compliment has to be a backhanded one, and wishes everyone can be sincere. He says you can say, “Good job!”, and end it at that. He also described an experience where he once had a woman continuously insult him while trying to take a picture, so he finally had to ditch her.
2. Air Canada: In his recent travels, Adam has decided that Air Canada is superior to our airlines in the US. Why? Because their no smoking spiel is simply, “This is a non-smoking flight”. No lengthy speech about the bathroom smoking detectors, and why you shouldn’t disconnect them. Simple and perfect. Adam believes that short sentence is all you really need, because there is no way for a smoker to get around that. It’s pretty much common knowledge that you can’t smoke on flights, so he thinks we should try a year without even doing the speech, just to see how many people really try to light up.
1. Customs- While his trip to Canada, Adam spent an hour going through Customs both entering and leaving the country. Adam doesn’t mind standing and waiting in a line, but what does bug him is seeing only 9 attendants working, out of 34 booths. Too him, seeing all of those empty booths is torture, and thinks from now on, if someone goes to build booths, they need to only build the amount that would actually be routinely operating. At the very least, they need to be 50% filled at all times.
