Almost Acoustic Christmas: Photos, recaps, interviews, and more!

Last year, punk outfit [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rancid[/lastfm] performed two shows at the Music Box as a benefit for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, and now the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Red Hot Chili Peppers[/lastfm] will be performing to help raise some money for the conservatory as well. We just world premiered their new single “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” on Friday, and with a new album I’m With You set to release the following week (August 29th), this show is sure to be awesome.

On August 24th, the Chili Peppers will be taking the stage at Club Nokia in Downtown LA. Some of the tickets will be auctioned off beginning Thursday, July 21st at 10am thru Friday at 3pm, while the remaining tickets will go on sale Saturday, July 23rd at 10am. It’s no surprise that the Chili Peppers are helping this organization out, both Anthony Kiedis and Flea serve on the Board of Directors!

You can also win tickets to this show by tuning in to KROQ today, we’re giving away tickets EVERY HOUR ON THE HOUR between 10am-7pm!

I called in to find out how much the tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers are once they go on sale. I was told that they will be between $120-$400. I have been a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan ever since the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album came out when I was in elementary school, and this is the first time I have ever seen them sell out like this. Flea has always said that it was about the music not the money, but I guess that he has forgotten that. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the most talented bands that are still around, but as talented as they are, in this horrible economy I do not think that it is right for them to charge so much money for their tickets. According to Anthony Kiedis’s book Scar Tissue, he and the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers grew up poor, and used to be poor starving musician. Unfortunately they have forgotten what that is like, and are not as humble as they used to be, and now are charging between $120-$400 to see them at a show.

It’s a BENEFIT show at a pretty small venue. How is that selling out? They’re trying to raise money for the organization they helped create in order to help the LA youth learn music, not stuff their pockets with cash…

I would have to agree with Blackout/, RHCP are just raising money for a great cause… I grew up in LA and moved over to Miami,Fl, but I’ve always been one of those fans that always wanted to see them proform, but never had the chance to go… I understand that the price maybe high, but I enjoy listening to their music and would most def. buy a plane ticket and watch them proform before they take off from LA… If it so happens that I’m able to get a ticket for myself and my girlfriend to watch RHCP proform, I would thank “The Rock Gods”! And KROQ radio!

RHCP are not and never have been “sell outs”!

I honestly believe that the music they write and sing is “Awesome”, and they have a variety of songs for all generations to listen too.

        Whats your opinion?
