Today’s KROQ Flashback: Missing Persons “Mental Hopscotch”
Tomorrow night the original Missing Persons line up is scheduled to play The Viper Room (for the 30th Anniversary) and you might still be able to squeeze your body in.
This was one of the first videos I ever saw and I was instantly drawn in to this terribly exciting sound. The screaming chick, the screaming guitar, the machine gun drumming – shit!
THIS was music that I cared about (as opposed to all the crap everyone everywhere else was playing). Little wonder then that this was THE NUMBER ONE SONG on KROQ in 1981 (according to the station’s official playlist, archived over at MemoryPain.com.
While the effects in today’s flashback video (very kindly stored for you by VEVO) aren’t exactly original, they’re put to great use (I still love the freeze frames) and it moves faster and holds up better than plenty of stuff released earlier this century. In short, this shit still ROQs my world.
