Just when the audience thought the day couldn’t get any better, some oddly familiar guitar strumming was heard from the back side of the stage as slowly rotated Rise Against out of view. Was the band still playing a few notes? No. Was it the beginning of Linkin Park’s upcoming set? Nope.

Hours earlier, The Grohl family ripped their mid-80′s style RV down a dirt road, hiding from the throngs of concert-goers entering Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Dave and his daughter set up shop behind the venue and proceeded to barbecue some dogs waiting for the other members to sneak their way in. When the time was right, they hopped a fence and made a dash for the stage. (At least, that’s the story we’re gonna stick with.)

We cut together a little video to show you exactly what happened.

Watch Stryker’s exclusive interview with the band!

Awesome!!!!! I just knew they were going to be there, that’s the only reason I bought tickets!!! Line up was pretty weak…

To think I almost sold my tickets cause I really couldn’t afford to go…..I would have missed my most favorite band in the whole wide world. What an amazingly cool and awesome surprise and, as usual, they rocked it like no other. I LOVE YOU FOO FIGHTERS, thank you so much for totally making my day!
