DJ Omar Khan asking the tough questions

For the second year in a row, the KROQ crew stayed in the same hotel for Weenie Roast as everyone in town for the Califur Convention – the gathering of grown-ass men (and a few women) that dress up, head to toe, as furry cartoon animals.

Our very own DJ Omar Khan took the KROQ mic around the hotel to get the inside scoop.

The conclusion was that they do this less as a sexual thing and more as a way to feel safe and belong to a group. Um… suuuuure. There’s other groups to belong to that don’t dress up as giant stuffed animals and second-rate mascots.

Omar was shocked and disappointed to learn that they were a drug-free group until he was told that there’s also “4:20 Furs,” so he quickly went looking for that group. Typical.

Don’t be fooled….we do tons of drugs, drink like fish, and screw like bunnies. You just need to talk to someone who’s not a passive introverted basement dwelling troll to learn about what furry is really all about.

I think a lot of us can’t really explain why we like to do this, we just know that we like it. And, just like the lion said, the truth about furries is that we mostly fall somewhere in between the bizarre, sex-addict image of us that is commonly shown by the media and the unrealistic, squeaky clean image that some of us want people to see.
