Doug Stanhope really needs to do some research. Lots of 12 step programs talk about a higher power, but Dr Drew has said, on the Kevin and Bean show of all things, that god isn’t the higher power. The addict needs to understand that they are not in the right position to make their own life choices.
Also, not recognizing addiction as a disease is just ridiculous. There’s a lot of evidence that real physical changes occur, the brain gets rewired. Doug needs to do some learning.

Please don’t ever have Doug Stanhope on again. He wasn’t funny when he was on the Man Show and he’s not funny now. Obviously he also doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to Dr. Drew and how many people he has actually helped behind the scenes over the years. Somebody please just find Doug’s father and ask him to hug his son because he’s obviously just looking for attention with his rhetoric and doesn’t want to confront his own issues.
