The Cure are one of those iconic bands that will forever be loved and admired for the rest of time. This is why I was so happy to hear that the band has announced that not only will they be headlining this year’s Vivid Live Festival, they’ll also be performing songs off the band’s first three albums!
Now, like most people, you don’t live in Sydney and so far this news means nothing to you. But allow me to indulge you with even more news from the band. The Cure will be recording the show for a future DVD release!
The Vivid Live Festival will take place May 27-June 6 at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. The band will perform their first three albums in their entirety at the festival. Those albums include 1979′s Three Imaginary Boys, 1980′s Seventeen Seconds and 1981′s Faith.
The Cure’s lineup will include present and past members for the shows and will take place May 31 and June 1. If you can’t go to Australia and see the band or hang out with Dave the King of Mexico’s favorite marsupial, the wombat, no worries! The band plans to record the shows and release a DVD.
Other artists playing the Vivid Live festival include The Avalanches, Bat for Lashes and Yo Gabba Gabba.

The Cure is one of those timeless bands that ALWAYS sounds great on KROQ… like the Chili Peppers, U2, Depeche Mode and NIN. No matter which song from these bands KROQ plays, I always turn up the volume!

yeah, don’t forget Jane’s Addiction and Pearl Jam.
Hey KROQ, don’t forget that NIN has more than “Closer” and Jane’s has more than “Jane Says”
and turn up the frequency of U2, DM and the Cure
great job playing Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam.
