Last night, the long awaited lineup for Lollapalooza was released! The festival founder and Jane’s Addiction frontman, Perry Farrell called up the Kevin & Bean show this morning to chat about the festival and its 20th anniversary.

One thing mentioned that I found to be particularly interesting is that there’s one performer who attended the first Lollapalooza, but has yet to play it… until this year! Who is it?

While all of us here in Los Angeles are a little bitter that the festival is all the way out in Chicago, it still excites us! The  lineup is always stellar, and this year does not disappoint!

Bands include Foo Fighters, Eminem, Coldplay, Muse, A Perfect Circle, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5, and TONS more!!!

Farrell mentioned that this year they were finally able to preserve the lineup until they were ready to release it, rather than have it leaked like so many years in the past. There’s a few reporters that take pride in leaking it every year, but this year, they were tracked down and asked not to leak it… So they just leaked the top six headlining acts as opposed to the entire list of performers.

There’s around 150 acts on the bill, so a leak of only six isn’t too bad, right?

Farrell recently watched some old Lollapalooza footage from the Shoreline Amphitheater and it even impressed his wife, who said, “Wow! You were really a part of all that?” Farrell’s response was, “Honey, I put it together,” which was what caused his wife to say, “Now I know why people are so nice to you!”

So wait a minute.. Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have never played Lollapalooza before? Years ago, Nirvana was set to play, but Kurt Cobain, unfortunately, didn’t live long enough to follow through as planned. This year, finally, Dave and the Foos will take the stage in Chicago!

Also added to this year’s festivities is a dance tent that can accommodate 15,000 people and has an amazing list of acts!
