On Friday, May 6, 2011, Depeche Mode‘s Dave Gahan will be honored at the Seventh Annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit at Club Nokia at L.A. Live.

The night will feature performances from Jane’s Addiction, Ozomatli, and acoustic set from Paramore, and Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield from She Wants Revenge will DJ during dinner.
The award will be presented by Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler (who at one point tried to stage an intervention with Gahan), for Gahan’s work with MusiCares’ MAP Fund, an organization that helps people get into drug treatment and recovery. In a nutshell, it’s sober living resources and addiction recovery treatment for those in the music industry that may or may not be able to pay for it.
Gahan says that he still goes to meetings for his recovery, though he’s made it past the point of having thoughts of drugs take over his everyday life. Fifteen years ago it was a bigger struggle, but now he finds comfort in going to see other people in similar situations as he’s been in, and turn their lives around.
As for what Depeche Mode has in the future, Gahan says they will be releasing a remix record in June alone with some accompanying videos. The members of the band have been writing some material on their own in the meantime, so who knows what will happen in the future. A new record is always possible.
Also being honored is Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman.
