[Photo Gallery] The Joy Formidable Plays…The Northern Welch rockers, The Joy Formidable, dropped by the 2011 KROQ Coachella House and performed a two-song acoustic set before the sun turned the temperature up to a hundred-million degrees.

After their performance band memers Ritzy & Rhydian chatted with Nicole about performing at their first Coachella, beating the heat and writing music in the desert.

The lovely Nicole Alvarez wanted to know what the Joy Formidable thought of their first Coachella and the answer was sort of obvious–the heat was unbearable while they were on stage:  It was really hot.

Despite the heat, Ritzy told Nicole that she wants to move to the desert.  She’s already visited Joshua Tree and is a complete sucker for the desert.

Spending time in the desert isn’t the only thing Ritzy Bryan (vocals, guitar) and Rhydian Dafydd (bass, vocals) have in common.  The two have actually been friends since childhood and worked on music independently for years.

Once they came together the musical process just sort of sorted itself out.  Rhydian explained

We live together and we’re with each other almost every minute of every day.  It’s almost just a lifestyle.

If making awesome music with your best friend is simply a lifestyle, count me in because Ritzy and Rhydian have sold me on the idea.
