[Exclusive Performance & Interview] Neon Trees Dish About Their Hair & Music With Kurt St. Thomas

This weekend will be the first time Utah based rockers, Neon Trees, take the stage to perform at the 2011 Coachella Arts & Music Festival.

Before the sun sets and they perform, they stopped by the 2011 KROQ Coachella House and talked about In ‘N Out, Veganism & their favorite personal Coachella experiences.

“ It was more than we could have expected for our first year and our first album.
” The Neon Tress have had a hell of a year. Their debut album Habits was released last year and their single “Animal”  made it to #1 on the Alternative Rock Charts.

They also managed to get a spot on the 2010 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas lineup making them a natural choice to stop by the 2011 KROQ Coachella House to rock the house with an awesome performance despite the nearly 100° heat.

Lead singer, Tyler Glenn explained that he couldn’t ever have imagined the incredible success of Habits.

It was more than we could have expected for our first year and our first album.

Even though, this is their first Coachella performing, it’s not their first time at the festival.  A few years ago, the guys recorded a demo album, made a bunch of copies and used Coachella as their maketing homebase:

We burned like 500 CDs, like demos, and handed them out in the parking lot.

However, the guys in Neon Trees have plenty of favorite moments from attending past Coachella performances.  Guitarist Chris Allen said his personal choice for favorite Coachella moment was when he saw the Pixies:

In ’06 when the Pixies played, that was pretty magical.

we’re going to embrace it.”]Tonight at 10pm the Neon Trees will take the stage, they’ll be donning some super awesome custom made items to wear on stage that will poke fun at their own wild hairstyles.

Instead of getting defensive [about our hair] we’re going to embrace it.
