beastie boys Ad Rock Talks To Kevin & Bean About New Music And Whats Next For The Beastie Boys

It’s been a while since we’ve heard much from the Beastie Boys. We do know that Adam Yauch (A.K.A. “MCA”) is cancer-free, but now what?

Well, Kevin & Bean spoke to Adam Horovitz (A.K.A. “Ad-Rock”) this morning about what they have coming down the pipeline.

So basically we missed the deadline on the Part 1.
With seven studio albums under their belt but no new releases since 2007, it’s about time for a new Beastie Boys album, right? RIGHT!

The new Beastie Boys album is called Hot Sauce Committee. Pt.2 and is set to be released on May 3, 2011, and it’s been a long time coming. Ad-Rock talked about the title and stated that there was originally supposed to be a Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1, but there were many problems involved in its failure to release.

“We had the Part 1 ready to go, but then for circumstances, it got kinda delayed. And then we figured, cause we were gonna release a Part 2, that Part 1 usually comes first, and then usually, if there’s a Part 3, that follows. So basically we missed the deadline on the Part 1, and it was coming up around the time when we were planning on putting out the Part 2, so that’s how these things happen.”

Did you follow that? There’s no longer a Part 1, but don’t worry, you’ll still be able to follow Part 2 without it. Ad-Rock said that it’s not like the show 24 in which you have to know everything that happened prior to understand the current.

In addition to their upcoming album, the Beastie Boys debuted a new video at the Sundance Film Festival entitled Fight For Your Right Revisited, written and directed by their very own Adam Yauch. The 30 minute short film features Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, and Jack Black, along with a who’s who of Hollywood.

I saw the film up and Sundance and loved it! The cast of people that they got to pop up in this thing is incredible! I wasn’t even able to keep track or remember most of those I saw in it! Ad-Rock wasn’t yet sure how this film will be released but he said “it’s a crazy-ass video!”

There’s no plans to tour yet, but in the meantime, if the album is even as half as good as the film, we’re all in for a real treat come May 3rd!

Watch the trailer here. It looks way funny!
