[Quotable] Ex-Guns N Rose’s Bassist “I Go Road Gay On Tour”

Former bassist for Guns N’ Roses, Duff McKagan has revealed how he becomes what he calls “road gay” while on tour. McKagan explained that while deprived of the company of his wife on the road he often finds himself mistaking male band members for the female of the species.

Now, I can understand his dilemma, there are some pretty males out there, but do you think this is an excuse? Maybe he plays for both teams?

Guy Rockers Who Look Like…Whatever the case this gave me the opportunity to hunt down some pictures of male musicians who actually look like females and/or lesbians. Let me just say the 80′s seem like a confusing period for male rockers as you can see in my gallery after the jump.

McKagan says, “You’re away from your wife and whatever, and I don’t f**k around – but there are no women on the bus. All of a sudden, well, your bass player’s got long black hair, he’s wearing his little sister’s pants, and out of the corner of your eye he looks like a hot chick.”

He added: “We call it road gay. We don’t actually act on it…”

McKagan was presumably referring to recent touring duties with Velvet Revolver and Loaded rather than his Guns N’ Roses gigging days past. But whose to say for sure.
