Last.fm Trends: Limp Bizkit Is Back And Going For “Gold” This Summer

Last week our friends in Philadelphia announced that the boys in Limp Bizkit have two albums’ worth of material ready to release. There is even a title and a concrete release date for the first album. It’s called Gold Cobra, and it will hit stores June 7.
It’s the group’s first release since 2003, which leads Last.fm Trends to wonder, are listeners still interested?
The Trends team dug into the band’s scrobbles to gauge if this comeback will be gold-plated…or a little rusty round the edges.

The band’s six-month chart features mostly older tracks, and curiously, it’s topped by “Behind Blue Eyes,” a cover of The Who‘s classic 1971 hit. The only charting track from Bizkit’s previous album Results May Vary, “Blue Eyes” appears to have caught the imaginations of Last.fm users, with 2,467,980 scrobbles from 478,567 listeners.
The song “Build A Bridge” from Results May Vary is only at #18, but it shares a very steady Recent Listening Trend with the band’s more popular tracks.
Apparently even these many years since its previous release, Limp Bizkit has not dropped off the radar of fans. The band’s shouts, in fact, suggest that users are ready for more.

Hey KROQ,
You know that Mikey is no longer in Limp Bizkit and Wes is back, correct? You may want to update that photo.
That said, I am stoked for this album. I know many gave up on Limp Bizkit when they were no longer “cool” but I have always loved this band. They are the bad guy wrestler of the rock world!
