Foo Fighters Go VHS Again For Their Next Video “Rope”

Foos Fighters - White Limo video
Foo Fighters have been on fire lately with their secret shows and amazing “White Limo” video. These men have been around for a while now, but they sure seem to be keeping up with the times.
Using Twitter and Youtube the band has drawn in so much attention for their new album Wasting Light, yet for some reason they’re bringing it back old school when deciding to film their music videos.
One major tip the Foo Fighters can leave for young up and coming bands is never take yourself too seriously. These boys have had some great videos in the past “Big Me” and “Learn to Fly” are just two of my own personal favorites.
Frontman Dave Grohl told MTV News “It’s not important for us to make videos, but it’s fun to make videos. I like making videos…So, I don’t know if bands have to make videos [these days], but I think it’s cool. I’ve always liked making videos.”
Well Dave your enthusiasm shows. This band has pumped out some of the most memorable music videos of our time and they don’t seem to be stopping. Rather than slowly dying off, the Foos have embraced the DIY aesthetic and started a new trend. By shooting on VHS for “White Limo” and now for “Rope.”
“It’s nice now that there’s not as much importance put on videos as there was in the past. People used to spend, like, $5 million making a video. You think people do that now? They don’t,” Grohl said. “They get a VHS camera, and they make a video in six hours, and today, over 1 million people have watched ‘White Limo,’ the video we made with a VHS camera. And it’s cool. Anybody can do that. That’s f—ing rad.”
Grohl seems to be even more impressed with how technology has progressed. “Nowadays, if we go play in a club and someone has a video phone, they film it and then they put it on YouTube and it becomes a video..The distribution of any of that information or images, it goes out everywhere, like that… That’s f—ing rad.”
If you haven’t done so yet check out “White Limo” and stay tuned for the premier of “Rope,” airing Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
