Named after an apparently calm antelope, Aussie psychedelic quartet, Tame Impala, self-proclaim that their music is like “a steady flowing psychedelic groove rock band that emphasizes dream-like melody.” Comprised of Kevin Parker (lead guitar/vocals), Dominic Simper (guitar), Nick Allbrook (bass) and Jay Watson (drums/backing vocals), Tame Impala are a transformation of Partker’s blues/jazz band, The Dee Dee Dums.
Signed to Modular Records in 2008, Tame Impala released their first EP in 2008 becoming number 1 on the Australian Independent Record Labels (AIR) Chart and touring with The Black Keys, Yeasayer, MGMT, Mars Volta, Kasabian, and Rise Against.
In 2010, Tame Impala toured with MGMT and released their début album, Innerspeaker. One of their first singles and a critically acclaimed favorite, “Sundown Syndrome,” was featured on the soundtrack of Oscar-nominated, The Kids Are Alright.
