The Killers’ Ronnie Vannucci Following In Brandon Flowers Footsteps

As we reported a while ago, The Killers are set to make their reunion on stage next month, headlining the Lollapalooza festival in Chile. This will mark their first performance together in nearly a year. Although they did get together to perform for the President back in July of 2010, I don’t really consider that a performance, since it was only for a select group of people.
Although they’ve released statements of getting together to record another album, will the announcement of another band mate recording his own solo album, hinder the band’s recording process? Or for that matter, a possible tour?
Well, with The Killers on a seemingly never-ending hiatus, Ronnie Vannucci [drummer] has just announced his desire to go solo like fellow band mate Brandon Flowers, and record his own solo album. He has already travelled to London to start laying the groundwork for the album, but there are still no details as to what part he will have in the album. Will he pull a Marky Ramone, and continue to play drums only with a new set of instrumentalists? Or, will he take the Tommy Lee route, and take his talents to the mic?
On why he chose to record in London, Vannucci explained, “The people I trust the most with music, some of those people are here. From the very first moment [the Killers] were here it solidified a bond that’s undeniable. It’s familiar now, it’s comforting.”
And when questioned about plans with the Killers he revealed a new album is “a way off” but he speculated on more “one-off shows” by the band. Hopefully one in So.Cal, I missed my opportunity to see them in San Fransisco with a couple of friends, and now with their return nowhere near, I wonder if I’ll ever make it to a Killers show.
The Killers did get together in December of 2010, to spread some Christmas cheer though, check out their most recent activity as a band.

Is anyone really interested in what the drummer from The Killers has to say?

Flower’s solo album was by no means a bad album, but compared to the amazing work the Killers’ have produced, it fell short. I know that each member of the band has a great amount of talent and can probably produce very entertaining solo albums, but I can’t wait to hear them back together again. I still have faith in Vannucci’s solo efforts and will more than likely buy the album.
