Unlike Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie are giving fans a long time to prepare for new release Codes and Keys: the band’s seventh album will be released May 31st.
They’re 6th on Last.fm’s weekly chart for the United States despite not releasing an album for three years – but which era do their fans love best?
Last.fm Trends is looking at the band’s scrobbles to see if newer is better.

Looking at their six-month top tracks, it’s pretty clear where fans’ hearts lie. The entire top five is comprised of tracks from 2005′s Plans, with last album Narrow Stairs only providing the #8 position with “I Will Possess Your Heart.”

Between their last two albums there’s a huge difference in listeners, but the Recent Listening Trend for both is remarkably similar. As a perennially popular act among Last.fm users, Death Cab are unlikely to see any great failures from their next album – but they’ll have a long way to go to beat Plans‘ dominance.
