Tom Morello Calls Madison, Wisconsin “The Next Cairo”

For the past few weeks Madison, WI, has been swarming with protesters marching outside of the state capitol in hopes to “kill the bill” that would cut union employees’ pensions and health care benefits.
Because these protesters have not been getting the national coverage they deserve, they’ve decided to look elsewhere for help. Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello, is a known activist who is also a major supporter of union rights. So when fans took to his Facebook page asking for help he delivered. Morello will be headlining a concert tomorrow in Madison, which in hopes will raise moral and bring light to the issues involving Wisconsin’s workers.
Here are just some of the cries for help that Tom Morello was receiving from fans:
“Hey Tom, could you please come to Madison? As I’m sure you’re aware, Scott Walker is trying essentially to de-unionize.” Mike Lowe-fan
“ Madison is the next Cairo” Tom Morello
“Tom, please come to Madison! The national news are not covering this the way they should be. We need your voice! To get on the national front. First person I thought of writing to was President Obama, which I did, at a close second came you!” Mike Tapia-fan
Morello spoke with the Huffington Post on Saturday, explaining to them that not only does he support the cause, but he himself is “a member of the Professional Musicians Local 47 in Los Angeles, and his mother worked at a public high school in Illinois for more than 30 years.”
“ Wherever The Nightwatchman is needed, The Nightwatchman will be” Tom Morello
He continued on to say “I really think that the future of the rights of working people in this country is not going to be decided in the courts, it’s not going to be decided in Congress or radio talk shows. The future of rights of working people in this country will be the fight on the streets of Madison, Wis. “
Tom stated he would play in any state that needed help fighting for workers’ rights. However, he is very excited that Madison is still “loud and energetic” with protesters. He claims it’s not the state budget “It’s breaking the right of working people to stand up to corporate power. That’s what they want to do, and that’s what we’re not going to let them do.”

Bust up the Uniions.. no more free rides! How dare the rest of us who donate to our own 401(k)’s, Pension Plans and other retirement accounts think you all should have to also. You Dems talk about ‘sacrifice’ but how dare we try and touch your Gravy Train. Go Wisconsin, start the Union busting now!

To hell with the unions, they are the reason we are in so much doodoo in this country. We wouldn’t have had to send your mommy and daddy’s jobs to China if the damned unions hadn’t tried to take every last drop of blood. NOT FOR THE WORKERS mind you! For the union administrators, lawyers, and politicians in their pockets. Talk about the fat cats.

People’s ignorance of this issue gives me a headache. The “fat cats” are the Teacher Unions, plain and simple. The deficit they have racked up because of pensions and healthcare is threatening to completely bankrupt the state. They’re riding a gravy train and they don’t want it to stop. Tom Morello should be standing up for the real victims here, the Wisconson taxpayer.

Tom Morello is a prime example of why I don’t get my political views from rich, out of touch celebrities. When it gets to a point Tom, that you actually have to worry about what the government is doing with your money because you need it to survive, then you can open your mouth to do something other than sing.

you sheeple just don’t get it, do you? it’s not these workers that are bankrupting the state(s) in question. it’s the politicos that spend, spend, spend like drunken efin sailors, while giving their corporate buddies all the perks, bailouts and tax breaks. then you will all bitch when you have no govt services, cause that’s what you will get. if the lakers told kobe he has to take a pay cut, cause the team is going bankrupt, and they trade him, you would all be crying a river. that’s no different than what is taking place in wisconsin. i guess you sheeple are are all for punishing the working class? an attack on unions is an attack on ALL working people, period!
you people support crap like this put forth by the religous tea bagging right, i guess you like having your constitutional rights taken away. i guess you like two classes, rich and poor. which one will you fall under? this isn’t progress, it’s ten steps backward. don’t blame unions for jobs moving over seas. blame greed. union workers could be paid minimum wage, and corporations would still get labour cheaper in china, india, mexico, etc.
i guess pensions aren’t worth fighting for in your eyes, and everyone should retire poor and broke, or have to work till the day they die. maybe the politicos should give up their cushy pensions, health care, and vacations and lead by example. these workers have to work 35 years for a full pension, but a politico, only 8 years. you can’t see what’s wrong with this picture?
you bashers need to get a mit and get in the game! amazing how the right fools so many suckers, i mean americans, with their propoganda. you believe everything father bush and reverend palin tells you.
