If you’ve had the chance to see The Dirty Heads at one of their many Southern California shows (including Weenie Roast and Almost Acoustic Christmas), chances are you’ve heard them perform their own rendition of The Rolling Stones‘ classic song “Paint It Black.”

After listening, give us your thoughts. We’ll be posting songs from time to time looking for your feedback.

Love them both. Saw them perform Paint it Black at Acoustic Christmas and it rocked the house. Their cover of Sweet Home Ca is amazing. Great lyrics.

U2 did a pretty nifty version of Paint it Black c.1992 (it was a B-side to “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses”). The Dirty Heads did pretty good with it too.

While I like the concept of “Sweet Home California” I really, really dislike the original. I will still give them points for giving California some recognition.

Yeah buddy! I love the U2 version. The Rolling Stones blow big time, but U2 and the Dirty Heads made lemonade out of lemons with this one.

Paint it black didn’t sound bad, but that lay me down song is pure sh*t. I don’t know how it gets air time.

This is crap…Don’t ruin legendary songs. Write something that good if you want to jack-johnson it up.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE “Paint It Black”!!!
“Sweet Home California”…like the lyrics but I’m not a fan of the original.

Both classics… Paint It Black sounds great but too much like the original (except for the reggae strum pattern, obviously). Sweet Home California (Alabama), although a great attempt, was taken from an original that is to overplayed, too well known and too southern. In my opinion, cover songs should be made to have a different sound than the originals and not already from the top 100 greatest classic hits ever. Anyways The Dirty Heads, still stand for badasses.
