Wait, what?” That was the uttering backstage at KROQ’s GRAMMY Pre-Party when Marcus Mumford announced they were about to play a brand new song… one that nobody had ever heard before. We knew the night was going to be special, but we definitely weren’t expecting that.

We haven’t really played it in public before, so if we f*ck up… have a go.” Mumford chuckled to himself, then treated the audience in the intimate Clive Davis Theater to a special acoustic performance of the still-untitled new song.

The new song, which Mumford informed the crowd was written in Nashville, has already generated some great buzz around the music community:

lucero, tim barry, chuck ragan, mumford and sons, topped off with flogging molly. that would be my ultimate line up for a show. if that actually happens, i could die with a stupid grin on my face
